F# Guitar Chord | Beginners Guitar Chords

Today's Guitar Chord of the Day is F# major. This guitar chord is played using a half-barre, where the first finger frets the top two strings.




As ever, try to keep your fingers just behind the fret and play each string individually to make sure each note is sounding clearly.

This can be played by moving an F major chord up 1 fret, in fact you can play any major chord by moving this chord around the fretboard:
  • 1st fret: F major
  • 2nd fret: F#/Gb major
  • 3rd fret: G major
  • 4th fret: G#/Ab major
  • 5th fret: A major
  • 6th fret: A#/Bb major
  • 7th fret: B major
  • 8th fret: C major
  • 9th fret: C#/Db major
  • 10th fret: D major
  • 11th fret: D#/Eb major
  • 12th fret: E major

Esus4 Guitar Chord

Today's Guitar Chord of the Day is Esus4. The 'sus' in sus4 chords refers to the 4th being suspended, ready to resolve to the 3rd.

The Esus4 Guitar Chord is very easy to play, simply add your little finger to the 2nd fret of the G string when playing an open Emajor chord.
Sus 4 chords can be used to decorate regular major chords so try adding in a suspended 4th when you're playing a standard major chord.

Sus4 chords use these degrees of the major scale: 1, 4, 5
Esus4 uses these notes: E, A, B

F# minor guitar chord

Today's Guitar Chord of the day is F# minor. This F#m chord is played down in open position so it's a good inversion for beginners to learn and a common chord in the keys of A, D and E major

This chord is played using a half-barre. A half-barre involves laying your first finger across the top three guitar strings to fret these 3 notes with one finger. Play each string on its own to make sure that each note is sounding clearly.

Bsus4 Guitar Chord

Today's Guitar Chord of the Day is Bsus4. Sus4 chords are usually played just before a regular major chord, they have an unresolved 'hanging' sound, hence the suspended name.

This guitar fingering for the Bsus4 chord involves playing a regular B major barre chord and slipping your finger up one fret to the 5th fret.
The root note of this chord is on the A string, you can move this chord to other frets to create other sus4 chords:

  • 1st fret A#/Bb
  • 2nd fret B
  • 3rd fret C
  • 4th fret C#/Db
  • 5th fret D
  • 6th fret D#/Eb
  • 7th fret E
  • 8th fret F
  • 9th fret F#/Gb

A7 Guitar Chord

Today's Guitar Chord of the Day is A7. This open guitar chord is commonly used and is easy to play.

Gsus4 Guitar Chord

Today's Guitar Chord of the Day, is Gsus4. Suspended 4th chords are usually used to embellish major chords.

This fingering of Gsus4 can be played together with an open G major chord with the right fingering.
Although you can use any fingering, as this is usually played together with an open G major chord it's best to use your little finger on the top E string
